How It Works

Users start by setting criteria for the make or model or year and view a list of models that fit the criteria.

Users select the model of interest and view components given for that model.   They can also view specification information related to the model.  There is an unlimited number of specification fields that can be configured for a model.  Parts can be further categorised within the model which is very useful if the model has certain component areas such as a motor bike (front, rear, engine, suspension etc).

Generally, once a part is located, the end user can view the price and add to their order.  That said, the eCommerce platform can be configured so that public visitors can be restricted to browse the make/model catalogue whilst account customers can view prices and add parts/components to cart.  This is common for wholesale distributors who want the public consumer to know they have the part/component however redirect them to an authorised reseller.

Model Cross Reference

When viewing a part either by part no search or make/model search, users can see the other models that contain the same part.  This is a very handy for a reseller if they are looking to buy a part that fits the most models thus increasing is selling potential.

Data Management

Offering make/model data to end users online requires configuring and setting up the data.  Most accounting/ERP systems do not offer ways to store Make/Model data properly.  To combat this, most companies store the data in spreadsheets and publish them in printed or PDF format.  As these lists are expanded over time by various people, a common problem is the data becomes inaccurate. Without correcting these mistakes, users are likely to become either confused or order an incorrect product.  The frustration is compounded when part numbers are modified or deleted from the ERP System however the changes are not updated in the Make/Model data.

When going online, it is vital that Make/Model data is accurate and the data is continually updated. To make this easy to implement and manage, XSQUIZZIT have developed the Parts Catalogue Database Application that stores all the Make/Model/Parts data matched to inventory items in your ERP system.  The application is designed so that staff can easily add models and parts and guarantees that the data remains accurate.  The application is installed on your server and links live to your XSQUIZZIT eCommerce Platform.

Data can be synchronised at any time and new model/parts data is available immediately on the eCommerce website.  Since the eCommerce platform is synchronised with your ERP system, any superseded or disabled parts/components will not be displayed.  This ensures that end users cannot view/order an old or non stocked product.

The application is multi-user and enables internal staff to update and research Make/Model data on the internal network.  The application has built in security so that only certain staff can be granted rights to update/ modify the data.

The application also provides import routines so that data can be imported from spreadsheets.  The import routine reports any inconsistencies in the data and blocks the import to run if the data is incorrect.
